Hi All, I kind of leaped without looking, and picked up some Hammond organ Jensen F12 field coil drivers... Thinking I could go get a power supply, hook them up and go... well after researching these things, they are the 250R & 5000R versions. I figured out scouring the net that I can run the 250R easily with a SS commercial power supply, the 5000R is the problem for me. I have found a couple people who tell me that a DC tube power supply is pretty simple to build. I am just not one of those kinda people. Is anybody capable and willing of doing this or know of someone who would build a couple for me? They would need to be a variable unit with max 450v. Many Thanks for your responses, Steve |

This transforner should comfortably form the foundation on which a PSU for your field coil drivers would be built. You need 2 transformers for 2 PSUs. 4X UF5408 diodes/PSU take care of bridge rectifying the AC. BTW, it was common practice to incorporate the field coil in the tube amp's PSU filter. AlNiCo is a post WW2 introduction. Prior to that, electromagnets were the only way get high flux densities. Perhaps you should use the field coil drivers in the 1930s way.
