Hello Inmates I have an Akai GX 210D, that generally works well. I play prerecorded tapes I have bought from E Bay the last 15 years or so. Once in a while the deck "eats" a tape. The tape runs off the pinch roller and gets crinkled something awful. This seems to happen on older tapes (London) that seem to be streched a bit or sticky. I clean the pinch roller, and it works again, for awhile. I recently purchsade a new "Pinch Roller Rubber" from Romania. Upon receipt of this new "rubber" i measured the outer dia. of the ols one vs the new one, there is only .004" differnce in the diameters, i was hoping to see more difference. i recently cleaned the old Pinch roller again, it is working fine now. I am torn if I should replace it or not.....I got burnt by a tech last year, getting my Akai GX 2280 D SS tuned up. It has not worked since, so I am a bit gun shy. If i decide to replace old rubber with new, do I just Cut off the old tire and slip the new one on wet? or dry? Thanks for your insights in advance. |
