Am I the only one here who uses damping tape on his cassettes? Nt

What deck are you using?

I'm using a Professional Sony Walkman cassette player and Sony MDR-V700 headphones. Damping the cassette body, even for anti resonant Maxell cassettes, increases resolution and dynamics.

I will have to give this try. Nt , posted on January 22, 2021 at 09:34:13

What kind of tape do you use and where do you apply it?

I use 3M Super 88 black electrical tape 3/4" wide. I cut two 1.5" long strips then cut those in half lengthwise so I have four strips 1.5" long. One strip is wrapped around each "shoulder" of the cassette at the top of the body, like epaulets, the other two strips go around the bottom of the cassette body, one opposite each wheel. All four strips start on one side of the cassette and end on the other side. Stretch the tape slightly when applying. If you can't find Super 88 tape, Super 33 is good but not quite as effective as Super 88.

this is one tweak I haven't heard about before. Will be interesting to hear about the effect when using good home deck.

cheers

Very similar to cable lifters. If anything, it will interfere with the mechanism causing mistracking. I'll stay away from this BS.
