out of nowhere, my nakamichi cr-1a cassette deck has started to warble. it sounds like everything has vibrato on it. all functions work fine, just thick and nasty vibrato pitch shift on all cassettes, some more noticeable than others (piano). i contacted willy herman who has done work for me before, but his 10 month turnaround time is uninspiring. i'd like to dive in myself. any ideas what my be causing this issue?

It could be time for them to be replaced if they haven't been yet.

I agree. Change the belts, order them from gcalo@dynamtechgroup.com.
