I'm likely to be installing a Technics 1560 that will need a cable length of at least 10' to the preamp, and the cable will pass some AC. The 1560 does not have balanced output. I have an ISO-MAX transformer if that would be of value -- short RCA cable from 1560 to ISO-MAX, longer XLR cable from ISO-MAX to Ayre KX-5/20. The tape recorder will be on the same wall as a pair of turntables, but the phono stages have balanced outputs.

My total experience with tape recorders is with Ampex 350s and Nagra portables. Techs in the lab maintained those. I'm a novice.

You ought to have good quality with RCA cables that have the shield tied at both ends for 10' -
I have used longer runs w/o issue-
