I purchased a fully shielded set of 10 foot Monster 1.2 cable, upgrading from OMC series. I can honestly say that........I can hear the diff. The hi's-cymbals,etc seem crisper and the music seems slightly fuller(in a pleasurable way)- The many ideas that you get from other audiophiles sometimes have to be overlooked, and you must judge for yourself.

I can't hear.I'm so upset I can't hear that I have convinced myself that nobody else can hear. This makes me very upset to see all you people that can't hear spending money on things that can't possibly make any audible difference. To help convince you that you can't hear either I have devised a testing protocol to minimize audible differences and penalize anybody that tries to make a choice.I call this ABX or DBT .

My experience has been that interconnect makes a bigger difference. Here is my suggestion, use the new cable for a couple of weeks, allowing for "burn-in" time, then go back to the old cable. You may hear the difference right away.

Yes, without them there would be no sound.(nt), posted on March 25, 1999 at 08:07:39

I was convinced by a knowledgable friend of mine to upgrade from large Monster cables to MIT cables, and then to upgrade again to MIT Tube Terminators. There was an amazing difference in terms of coherence and staging with each upgrade. Even more interesting, it took the MITs about 200 hours to really "break in" , just like the literature that came with the cables said it would. I called MIT and talked to their tech support people about it- asked what this "break in" was all about, in a fully passive componant. " We can't explain it..." they said. " We just observe it , it happens over and over again. It's there. We have no theory and no explanation." I really liked that- no BS, no sales job. It's just there. I have tube AR amp and preamp, Vandersteen speakers and the MITs work real well for me.

Two instances I had noticed the difference right away. First instance was when I was ready to throw away my Definitive C-1 Center Channel which was using some 16 gauge speaker cable tossed in by the dealer. The high pitch was unbearable, and at the same time, you can hardly hear a normal conversation that well. I changed all my HT cables to Tara Lab. Now the conversations are very clear and no more unbearable high pitch sounds. The second instance was when I replaced my speaker cable in my two-channel system from Sumiko OCOS to Transparent Ultra. OCOS has received great review for its high performance/price ratio. When I hooked up the Ultra. The soundstage was much more three dimensional and I did hear many improvements in my system, including more details and deeper bass. I am not suggesting you to go out and pay $$$$ for cables. But do compare as many as you can within your price range. I did an A-B-A test with the cables for one week at a time.

Cables are not that difficult to audition. When listening to a cable , cold, it will pretty much sound that way after it breaks in. After about a minute or two, cables start doing wierd things with the soundstaging, then the timbre, etc. They then take a month or more to sound as they did that first minute.
