I thought about replacing my 27 year old Virgos with new speakers, but i think adding a subwoofer will be a better option.
My question is, will i have better system integration adding a subwofer from Audio Physic, or will any good subwoofer work just as well. From my understanding, subwoofer placement is probably more important then the brand of subwoofer?

Thanks

Bob,
you seem to be casting about for something to change in your set-up-

IIRC - there was a thread about swapping out the Virgos for Klipsch Cornwalls ...
-If you are still in a big room, they may also help with getting a lower bass response-

Though the Virgos are only down 6dB at 23Hz - per the stereophile review...

Also in that review they mention that the Virgo is a challenging load -
I am not sure that a sub will get you what you want -
But I am not quite sure what you want either...
Happy Listening

Well, I have been a little indecisive. I've just been mulling over different ideas on how to improve the system. I'm happy with my amp and preamp, so no need to change that out. I thought instead of upgrading the speakers or just add a sub.
I suppose I've been a little impatient since I have to start my leukemia treatment next month, and was hoping to make a change before that happens, because I may not be able to afterwards.

Just a general heads up. I've been treated for myeloma and plasma cell leukemia for almost three years now. Over the summer, due to a change in medication my hearing was suddenly damaged. It was a significant enough loss that I no longer consider myself able to function as an audiophile. If you notice any tinnitus or diminished perception of higher frequencies be sure and notify your oncologist immediately. It might be a good idea to have your hearing evaluated before you begin treatment so you have a benchmark for later comparison.

Hi Kona,
Sorry to hear about your illness. I feel for you.
I've been on watch and wait for eight years.
Enlarged lymph nodes and diminished antibodies now necessitates treatment.
I hadn't thought about tinnitus as one of the side effects. I did have my hearing checked last year and it was great.
I see my oncologist in a couple of weeks and I will discuss this as a possible side effect of the medication I will be taking. Thanks for the heads up.
Good luck to you.

I wish you strength and peace as you navigate this phase of your life/illness-

If you are otherwise happy with your set-up, try some different positions - seat versus speakers -
Like nearfield -
you may find a window more to your liking-
Good luck-

Happy Listening

Any pair of good subwoofers will work.

Thank you for the good wishes. They are much appreciated. I feel fortunate that before this illness I had an extensively tweaked system that I was extremely satisfied with, as opposed to one in which I was midway through making changes. It's early days with this hearing deficit. I expect I will explore hearing aids down the line.
