I bought a KEF KC62 sub for use with LS50s. I intend to use its low and high-pass settings. Stereo from an Oppo 205 will go to the KC62; high-passed stereo from the KC62 will go to a NAD M22 amp that drives the LS50s. Any suggestions for low and high pass settings? LS50 bass is 3 dB down at 80 Hz, 6 dB at about 50.

As the room and where the subwoofer and main speakers are positioned within it will alter the resulting audible bass response of both due to room gain etc. there can be no fixed recommendation. If you know that the -6dB point for the main speakers is 50Hz that may be a good place to start but could well not be where you end up ( I am assuming that you have no means of measuring and are setting by ear).

Pick a location, listen, adjust. Repeat as required, get it where you like t he sound, forget about it. It is working great (replaced a REL) with LRS' and Wharfedale Lintons.

For my FIRST TEST? In no case? let the sub play about about 70hz.......at the crossover point.....

I'd low-CUT the KEFs about 60hz to 65hz.
I'd HIGH PASS the sub at about 50hz to 55hz. Sub has typically a built-in 24db octave crosover while I don't know about your low-cut........

Leave a GAP between LP and HP settings.....they are NOT a brick wall....

I prefer taking even simple measurements using a Stereophile Test disc and SPL meter.

After much experimentation, I was surprised that the most linear results in the Schroeder frequencies with my HT system was setting the high pass at 90 hz for the Acoustat 1+1s and low pass to a pair of powered subs at 60 hz using 12 db/octave slopes. The 1+1s have considerable output below that frequency.

Room modes are fickle.

PAR - I have a sound level meter that I use for matching speaker levels, but I usually use a Velodyne SMS-1 bass manager for setting up subs. It provides a graphic display with lots of parameters that can be adjusted. My KEF Reference 1s are high-passed at 80 Hz 24 dB by a Marchand balanced passive high-pass filter, and I may high-pass the LS50s at 80 Hz as well.

I had the powered version of the LS50s. I assume the drivers are the same. You should be okay with the Kefs to below 50Hz +/- 3dB. According to Kef, you should start with a high pass filter setting of 70Hz. The KC62s rolloff at 24dB per octave above the low pass filter setting. So start with a low pass setting of 40-45 Hz. Then tweak the settings to your liking.

There seems to be a bit of consensus about low-passing LS50s at 45 Hz and high-passing them at 70 Hz, values that seems to have been generated by KEF's chief audio tech. I'll start with those values. OTOH, I preferred the sound when I raised low-pass from 40 to 80 Hz for my KEF Reference 1s, but that was before I installed the Marchand passive high-pass that's fixed at 80 Hz 24 db slope.
