I have seen this model under "studio monitors" and don't really understand how they are used (near field?) having never been in a studio.

Now I see they're also under home theater and would like to read any comments on the satisfaction, or potential satisfaction reached using these speakers.

The seemingly same model is offered passively for audiophiles in a wood finish, but the 3225 total watts and 20 - 25kHz response has my interest and there's larger models.

I am really not impressed by these speakers - at least from their specifications.

For a start that 20Hz - 25kHz spec. No tolerances given so it's meaningless. You need to have the -6dB points cited to to get any idea of real FR and these are not supplied.

I assume given the large numbers that we talking class D amplification?

Then there's the DSP factor. No analogue inputs only digital ( balanced only BTW) and they are limited to (for these days) a pretty basic 24/96 max resolution. No higher resolution files can be played unless downsampled. No DSD or MQA either should you want that kind of thing. And what about the intrinsic quality of the DAC? Have they squeezed a dCS Vivaldi or MSB Select DAC inside? No it is going to be a pretty run of the mill processor you can bet. So if you also have a good DAC forget ever hearing it as you will only get to hear the output of the DAC installed in the speaker. Moreover there is no mention of upgradability which is essential with digital components that are not disposable in an ever advancing/changing environment.

Although I'm no more likely to purchase these speakers than I would a new twelve cylinder automobile, I did find them and your insights fascinating.
