What sonic effects (such as via BSC,or diffraction, etc.) might be produced by having stands with a large/wide block (either partial or all the way down to the floor) or pedestal under the speaker vs a thin/narrow one?

. . . which is largely a function of baffle width. But denser/less resonant is always a good thing (can you fill that boxy one with sand?), and so is stability. The one on the right looks altogether too tippy-overy.

in the sound of the speaker if able to be filled with sand... In either case make certain that you use Blu-tak or some other substance to make certain that the speakers are solid on the stands.

I built a few stands in the past and all of them had cones under them. They need them. bobwire

the Pangea $200 24" stands actually firm up the image and bass and i highly recommend them. a friend uses them for the Volent monitors to excellent effect.
