Can't find much about the new offering from Elac due out in the second quarter of 2017. Another Andrew Jones design called the Elac Adante that will retail for $2500. It seems like the B5/B6 and UB5 got more excitement and press. Just wanting to know if anybody is following, putting money aside for his latest project?

Ha, ha. He is a world famous speaker designer that has more talent in his little finger than most speaker designers. I look foreword to his new offering....

Which classic speaker did he design that passed the test of time? I have not heard of any . Dave Wilson , Peter Snell , Franco Serblin , R.Vandersteen, and a few other world famous designers have at least one or even a few timeless designs. What about Andrew Jones? Fashionable crap going out of favor after a season or two.
My friendly dealer is sick and tired of people constantly calling in wanting to brag for hours about those A.J $270 boxes, while the speakers itself are just that- $270 speakers sounding like most other $270 speakers. He actually apologized to me ashamed that he has to stock it .

Jones is quite well regarded, even outside the White Van community., posted on May 13, 2017 at 22:07:29
While at KEF, he engineered, among others, the 104/2 speakers. Then he moved on to three years at Infinity. After that to TAD where he designed the $80K Reference 1. Then to ELAC as chief designer. In spite of the fact YOU don't know who he is, the guy has some serious cred as a speaker designer.

He was also the founder of the still succesful loudspeaker brand Acoustic Energy, designing the iconic AE1 which has more or less remained in production in various iterations since 1987 . Even more cred.

If TAD is white van speakers, then certainly he is. I recently heard a pair of $22k TAD speakers that he designed. They were box speakers, but they sounded anything like that. Sounded more like full range with great musicality. Of course out of my range. But at least you gt to know that is out there and what you are missing when you are in the process of auditioning loudspeakers.
Looks like you have some beef against Mr. Jones? At least the audiophile community knows him as a great loudspeaker designer. Who are you? :-)

I was at the AXPONA this year and Andrew Jones was in the Elac room demonstrating the prototype Adante bookshelf monitor. They sounded pretty good. I am thinking of auditioning the floor standers, when they are released in the June-July time frame. The reason for this is - I was at the Music Direct demo where they had the good, better and best system configured. The good were the Wharedale bookshelf speakers, the better were Elac Uni-Fi, while the best were Focal Sopras 2 (not sure). By the time I reached there there was some beautiful music playing and I really though it was the Sopras playing. I enjoyed the music for about 2 minuted before finding out that it was the Elacs. They had so much body and spaciousness. If these can sound so good, I started wondering how the Adante floorstanders would sound.

They might be bringing back an improved version of the Pioneer TAD speakers. A Poor man's TAD speakers! They are coming out with a floorstanding Adante speakers too for $5000. These might turn out to be giant killers.

So called audiophile community mostly consists white van type of customer and mister A. J knows how to cater to that public very well. That's why the mid- fi outlets are so eager to hire him so he can bust the sales for a moment knowing that a circle of cheerleaders present on forums like this will trumpet that junk up to the sky. Yes, I heard that TAD models , big and a small ones , they are really not for human beings but for robotic age neuters , had those dead AE-1 , the kef's , heard Infinity.I have no beef with Mr. Jones , I think he is a competent designer who somehow was promoted to the position of the king of white van speakers by people masturbating at the front of $270 boxes and calling people who don't Trolls.

What's his number? I can set aside Tuesday 9:00am - 3:00pm to brag about AJ's $140 speakers that allow a $99 amp that drive them beautifully and still sound wonderful, my longtime $250 (used) pre and $79 source. Too bad my utterly indispensable DSPeaker Antimode had to ruin the equation at $1,000 bucks - even in a 23x13 room AJ's 4" drivers put out a bit too much bass - the DSpeaker reveals the wonderful level of bass definition AJ achieved that's otherwise smothered by the room. Whoops - guess my Shun Mook Mpingo Discs kinda ruin the price ratio too.

Design genius is far more evident at what you can do at a low price point that what you can do when money is no object...

No,no Roman in sight , but I'd imagine he would have wrote something similar[] I had a moment of weakness yesterday and foolishly drank one tinny glass of Riesling after a 6 months of total sobriety and just had to stumble on ANOTHER Andrew Jones post to know effect.... I had to follow up today because in essence it is how I feel but I would abstain from posting at all if not that tinny glass.
Warm Regards, W

Wojciech, :
I had a chance to listen to some very, very good speakers yesterday. If I had 3 jobs and a credit card, I still couldn't afford them. That's the honest truth, "Hi End" speaker cost big money. I remember ordering the B6 Elac's before they even came out, I was so excited because I was getting something that would be close to something I couldn't afford! Andrew Jones made everyone at his price point do better. The UB5 can come very close to "that certain" $1500 speaker and everyone knows it. It's going to be the same with the Adante at $2500. Everyone that makes a speaker in that price range will have to do better or lower their prices. He is out-right changing " the Audiophile Community", perhaps more so than anyone every has! Nothing wrong with that.....

Andrew Jones is most well know for designing budget loudspeakers. I don't shop in the segment so I can't say if he is good at it or not.

He also designed the TAD Reference One which is not at all a budget design.

Not too familiar with Andrew Jones but I just took a flyer on Phil Jones's latest speaker a couple of weeks ago at they're introductory price. Should be getting them by the end of the month

As Mr. Dick Hertz stated: "While at KEF, he engineered, among others, the 104/2 speakers. Then he moved on to three years at Infinity. After that to TAD where he designed the $80K Reference 1. Then to ELAC as chief designer. In spite of the fact YOU don't know who he is, the guy has some serious cred as a speaker designer."
This is true.

However, you added: "He was also the founder of the still succesful loudspeaker brand Acoustic Energy, designing the iconic AE1 which has more or less remained in production in various iterations since 1987."
That, unfortunately, is not true. You are confusing him with Phil Jones, another respected speaker designer.

Sounded great. It seems another winner from Andrew. If I were looking for a pair of stand mounts, I'd definitely look into them. I wish I could stay longer but the room was packed.
