I'm interested in perhaps getting a pair of the "Orkans" model speaker that this German company sells. I've heard them but can't find reviews or anyone else talking about them online. I know I should just trust my ears but they costs such a large chunk of money to me I need a little reasurance. They would probably be in my system for atleast a decade. Doesn't matter what electronics I have now as they would slowly be updated to match them (using newer rotel stuff at the moment). Any thoughts?

Thanks

Their web site posts a number of reviews, but they all seem to be European. I'd gather the lack of discussion on this side of the pond is simply due to the fact they don't have a US distributor. I doubt the Canadian distributor listed sends much product to US stores.

It's tough to get much press coverage for a product that few know about and still fewer buy.

That said, a product doesn't have to be widely distributed to be good.

There are some potential issues such as resale and service. Even if a replacement part is available, how long might it take? Would a warranty be worthless if the dealer or distributor dropped the line?

On the flip side, some people really enjoy having a unique product that isn't widely available.

Whether this is a good fit for you will depend on your reasons - both conscious and subconscious - for buying and how you'd react to any issues that arose down the road from this being rarer product in your neck of the woods.

Hah, this is one question I actually asked my dealer. He's pretty damn amazing but I asked him of he still saw himself dealing with them down the road.

Well I got those speakers a few years ago. They suit me really well. I don't think I could go back to dome tweeters now.Super fast/detailed all without being bright or harsh. Very smooth and full.
