A heads up for anyone buying vinyl

https://store.acousticsounds.com/index.cfm?get=login&logout=true

Story: I wanted the NEW Rolling Stones Studio Lp Box set, So I ordered it paid 373.99 for it and waited, Got it today Via Fedex. Open the mildly damaged outer box and right away I see something disconcerting The clear tape on the inner box that protects the box set is a mess its all jumbled up and has a piece going across at 90 degree angle, Not what one sees on a NEW product. Next I pull the box out and the label on the side is totally faded as though its old or sun exposed. the inner box has zero damage. Next I open the box to retrieve the box set itself there are 8 foam protective foam pieces 1 on each corner, all are pristine IE...No Damage. Now I inspect the box set and I find a 3 inch crease in the top right rear oddly enough exactly where those pristine foam corner protectors reside inside the pristine inner box. So this begs the ? how does 1 cause a crease like this with the foam and box in perfect shape ? I figure they are reselling returned items as NEW, Called to inquire the ONE & ONLY PERSON that deals with returns replacements is AWAY for a WEEK........................Things are smelling foul, Go look up google and yelp reviews and guess what comes up 3 to 3.5 stars

BUYER BEWARE....................I paid via Paypal so after I wait my week I can file a claim if they fail to make it right

Thought some on here may want to know

What about the Postcard Inserts and Numbered Certificate of Authentication? Do they look new?

And the 15 albums inside the box? Are they sealed? Have you looked at the records? Are they in jackets? In new condition?

Without addressing the above, your conclusion that they sold you a returned item as new is premature at best.

Premature in your mind maybe, not mine I have bought other box sets from them and other retailers and to the last NONE arrived packed like this one, and NONE have had a crease undisclosed. It doesnt really matter what you think. People deserve to understand whom they are dealing with. What kind of company has ONLY 1 Person that can handle an issue ? What kind of company thinks its ok to put off customers for a week plus to handle a concern over a fairly expensive item ?

Did you write a letter to their general manager (CEO?) with pictures attached?

I was getting ready to buy some box sets and I'm really interested in was resolved or not. I don't want to go through the same issue with spending that kind of cash.

A lot of big companies are now not doing well with shipping ordered items to customers. I'm going through some crap with VPI, can't seem to my order straight and keep sending wrong items.

I have bought records from before but they were used but we're in better condition than what they had listed. Sorry to hear you are going through this.

I don't order from them anymore. Figured I didn't buy enough so whenever I did they sent their b-stock. Yea I kept the broken crap they sent me but after they did it a second time (or was it the 3rd?) they've not gotten another order. I'm 100% positive they could care less giving me the choice of keeping their garbage or going through the hassle of making them get it right.

I was buying their numbered 45's, I think, and I received a few back to back that were both warped and had tons of surface noise.

I talked with Chad and he spoke to me like I was either lying or didn't have a clue about vinyl. His response offended me enough that I purchased absolutely zero items since then.

When I ran my first audio business, AS was the distributor for Sutherland phono stages. One of the "new" units, when opened by my customer, was defective. He found a note in the box describing the defect by a previous customer. So AS didn't even both to inspect the contends of the returned unit or bother to test/repair it. Just sealed it up and put it back into new inventory.

Several decades later, this seems to be a long running business policy.
