This Tennessee based label has been releasing some real gems, stuff the majors won't touch. I only have two, Starcastle's 'Fountains of Light' and 'Citadel'. Neither sound that great (though I suppose it could be the original recordings...thanks Roy Thomas Baker).
What about the sound quality of other Renaissance releases? (Russ Ballard, Sad Cafe etc.) ? Should I stay away from this label?

The Starcastle cd I have sounds fair.

I have several Russ Ballards and they sound pretty good.

It isn't audiophile quality but it isn't crap either.

I look at comapnies like Renaissance and One Way as saviours of odd relics that the major lables don't want to touch because there isn't enough profit in them.

Sure, it'd be nice to have all these releases remastered and released as a top notch package, but who are we kidding. Realisticly, how many copies of Russ Ballard or Starcastle will sell? I, for one, am happy to have these tiny companies make these rarities available on CD at all!
