Another Inmate was talking to me about obtaining Monster Cable products in 1986. back then, Monster were not the litigious beast they'd become. 35 years ago, my friend and classmate Cy asked me to come over to his house after school on a Friday. His family had a recently-assembled NAD/Monster Cable/Advent Prodigy tower system. Cy's exhausted sister Yulie came home, dropped her belongings on the floor, and plopped herself on the couch between me and Cy. She noticed that we were listening to music, so she pulled out from her bookbag, Peter Gabriel's So. Although "Sledgehammer" and "Big Time" were the hits, Yulie's favorite was "Red Rain." It started off with Stewart Copeland's (ex-The Police) cymbal, and then Tony Levin's bass really made it feel like the music was raining down. Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" and "In Your Eyes" pushed "Red Rain" back to summer 1987. Ever since, "Red Rain" unfortunately has been overshadowed. Don't overlook it. -Lummy The Loch Monster |
