Saw Gil with Brian Jackson many times in Boston clubs- probably the Rat or the Tea Party, also maybe the 1369, but there were other clubs I can't remember.

Sounds as fresh and relevant today as 40 years ago. RIP Gil.

"The Bottle", "Winter In America", "The Revolution will not be televised", "Angel Dust", "Johannasburg", etc. etc.

The song "Winter in America" is very difficult to find now in the studio version. And the live version has some problems unfortunately.

Another artist Lumie somehow missed ;)

Can't leave that classic out.

GSH and Brian Jackson made some wonderful music.

First heard them with "Ain't No Such Thing as Superman" in '75.

WIA is still easily found on the LP.

In a similar vein were The Last Poets.

And remember: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination"-Michael McClure

When I was in my 40s I introduced my mid twenties GF at the time to Winter in America, She was pretty dumbstruck at first listening. Thought boomers only listened to the beatles and beach boys I guess.

IIRC they used that in an episode of HBO's Lovecraft Country. It was good to hear.
