Imagine, 25 years ago, going down your high school halls, to get to your locker. You have your Walkman on, you scowl, and you act like you're hunting the halls, as you listen to Dokken's subtly sophisticated "The Hunter." Ah, but then my nice and benign classmate, Lily, intercepted me. She had the same last name (characters), but different spelling/dialect/pronunciation. Poor Lily; our classmates would rag on her, "Lily! You're uglier than your brother, Lummy!" You remove your headphones, and Lily asks, "Why do they pat you on the head, shoulders, back, and butt?" You just shrug, "It's sports." Lily counters, "But they do that to you, even outside of PE." And then you no longer feel like you're on the prowl, so you don't feel like resuming Dokken's "The Hunter." IDK, radio stations hardly ever played "The Hunter." Your best bet might have been MTV's Headbangers Ball. If anything, on account of internet radio, you hear "The Hunter" more often now, versus when it was on the charts on 1986. During that Spring 1986 semester, our PE teacher selected you and Roman, as team captains, to pick sides in softball. You selected Lily, to be a pitcher. She got shelled, and when you walked to the mound, to relieve her, you patted her on the back. Aargh, your other pitchers, like Chelsea, Lora, and Nori, couldn't throw strikes. Oh well, you got to see your catcher, Mike, flail around like Kung Fu Panda, trying to retrieve all the errant pitches. Maybe Lily getting shelled wasn't such a bad thing. At least your outfielders got to run around and chase the ball. -Lummy The Loch Monster |
