One of our favorites from 2000 is Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You." Back then, we were in our late-20s, so "Gotta Tell You's" mid-tempo dance was just right for us. It's a song best heard when you have 20 or more of your friends with you. Now, given today's SIP, that's not happening.

Around Labor Day 2000, we actually were able to get a horde of us together, for a picnic. Just like old times, we played team sports. And also, someone brought a boombox. There was just a fun and power, to dancing to "Gotta Tell You."

Alas, while dribbling a basketball, Soobin got carried away, with "Gotta Tell You." She stuttered, stumbled, tripped over feet and legs, and did a face-plant on the asphalt. She got cleaned up, and because we actually had a camera, took this photo. I saw her recently, and if you stare at Soobin's cheek, you can see a faint scarring.

And for good measure, Soobin scuffed her hand. Oh well, this was sign. Being an athlete wasn't in the cards. In 2000, more and more of us started to get married and have kids.

When "Gotta Tell You" came out, Mumba was still 17. You or your kids might recognize her, because she appeared on the Disney Channel, sometimes with Aaron Carter.

With or without your 20 friends, listening and grooving to Mumba's "Gotta Tell You" brings back and brings out your inner teen.
