the albums I'm thinking of were, "Children of the Future" and "Sailor," by the Steve Miller Band. Okay, the guy isn't "forgotten," but those albums are. They're FAR superior to anything he did later that garnered him stardom.
Then there's the greatest Texas pop artist I know that's relatively unknown, Moon Martin. Again, his earliest albums are full of great songs, several of which became huge hits for lesser talents.
Lastly, Lou Anne Barton: listen to one song, "Maybe," and "see." (BTW, she was good enough to have been Stevie Ray's singer in an early iteration of Double Trouble...)

They used to play New Orleans a few times a year in the early 80's, and they were great.

Say, if you're feeling a little adventurous/daring in the Texas vein, how about some Texas swing? When I need that cup o' tea, I go straight to Asleep at the Wheel.

Love "the Wheel!" And when I need crazy, Texas style, it's gotta be, posted on June 20, 2020 at 10:29:59

the Butthole Surfers. "Pepper" is one hellaciously infectious song.

Thanks! I'd be really remiss if I failed to mention the Sir Douglas Quntet, too! , posted on June 20, 2020 at 10:32:46

13th Floor Elevators and/or Roky Erickson.

Not at all disappointed though!

Roky deserves to be included, ABSOLUTELY! nt, posted on June 21, 2020 at 17:40:17
