I once wrote a little about Madonna's former band, Breakfast Club. Hey, if you want to get your audiophile gathering on the right track, play Breakfast Club's "Right On Track." 30 years ago, while I was taking two summer high school classes at Punahou, "Right On Track" was a fave. Didn't matter if you were frosh, soph, junior, or senior. Didn't matter if you were short, tall, skinny, fat, boy, or girl. You'd gather with others around you, and bust out your herky-jerky-funky moves. The good times rolled right into the Fall '87 semester, when I returned to my real school in San Francisco. The incoming freshman class was loaded with cute, friendly, effervescent, positive, good-looking, communicative, smart, unpretentious girls. They blew away that year's seniors, juniors (my class), and sophomores. Most of my girlfriends would, as it turned out, come from this freshman class. And that got kicked off with, among other top-notch music, Breakfast Club's "Right On Track." Hey, don't wait for reunions, 80s throwback parties, or audio shows. "Right On Track" always brings in the good-natured, fun-loving kids. Okay, well, we aren't kids any more, but still... Playing "Right On Track" makes you forget about whatever's bringing you down. -Lummy The Loch Monster |
