Again, measuring intensity is difficult. But among my audiophile acquaintances, the two most feverish genres of music are most likely thrash metal and dance music. When it comes to the latter, you'd hear a song become a dance floor sensation for a month or two, and then it'd be replaced by something else. Thus, you never really got to know or get deeply into a particular song. One which remains popular with the public at large is Debbie Deb's "When I Hear Music," which was incredibly popular at my high school, during the Spring 1987 semester. But going beyond most dance music, this is one which audiophiles regularly inquire about. So when you play it for an audiophile, he usually perks up, loves the song, and profusely thanks you for it. Kids nowadays know about "When I Hear Music," because it appears on Yo Gabba Gabba. When Debbie Deb performs at Freestyle Jam concerts, look out! Or rather, get out of the way! Those teenage girls of the 80s are now 40-something-year-old moms who love "When I Hear Music." If you get in their way, or interrupt them, they will shove you out of the way! -Lummy The Loch Monster |
