Odd, off-beat version of Stone Poney's one big hit.

Thanks for sharing that -- what a remarkable artifact!
Where the heck did that come from?
Good quality audio and video-- too good for TV of its era.
Large(r) format (35 mm??) movie film?

I am sure y'all know Mike Nesmith wrote the song.

I was going to mention Mike Nesmith, since so many people didn't seem to know that he wrote the song, at least back pre-internet, anyway.

That clip you posted of him doing Different Drum was great. I've never seen it before, and I'm still smiling. Thanks!

I got to see Linda in concert once, sometime in the mid-1970s. Mmmm.

I never saw that Mike Nesmith clip before, either(!), posted on April 11, 2017 at 17:09:33

It's apparently a Monkees artifact, and I was a pretty rabid Monkees fan in my late single-digits of age!

(and not that I'd admit that just anywhere, either)

Love those Acoustic Control amps, too!, posted on April 11, 2017 at 20:24:41

Those horns in the cab! I mean, standing in front of those and trying to sing? Must have had ringing ears, for days.

I believe those are Acoustic 270 amps with cab loaded with Altec 418 speakers. 375 watts!

I watched the prefab four show with some regularity, but don't recall seeing Nesmith do his song. Even if I did see it, the way he rattles through it for comedic effect wouldn't have made it stand out for me.

It was many years after the Stone Ponies had a hit with it that I found out it was written by Mike Nesmith.
