I bought a Demo, and sure enough , it's the AKM Chip, Serial # ends in "B."
I have 30 days to decide whether to keep it, tho I expect I will keep it.
It was easy to set up DSD Direct, Auto DSD Detection, and Auto Reference Level.
It sounds good right away through my Desktop System, will use a long Balanced Cable to reach my Den System.
I get DSD 256 on it with my iMac.
DSD 128 available on my other Dacs.
I will be comparing a Lampizator Euforia DSD only Dac, and a Mac D 150 PCM/DSD Dac.
OI also have a Korg D 100 Dac I mainly use with their Audiogate Software for editing and exporting Live DSD Recordings I make.
I took the Mytek 192/DSD Dac out of the Desktop System, and deleted the Dice Driver.
I was getting very regular Kernal Panic shutdowns on my iMac.
One day I noticed the Mytek listed first in the Report, and NO crashes since deleting the Software.
It works as a Headphone Amp only, tho I don't use headphones much.
Analog out on one Dac, analog in on the Mytek.
Anyway, when I get some definite impressions about the RME, I'll post.

for a new DAC?

Who?

First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass

Wow, I didn't know that you had that many DACs to compare against. We'll be waiting for a full report!

Actually my VI's are younger, but my Conn Bari was the
Official Baritone Sax of the 1936 Olympics.
Definitely before my time!
Anyway,
Peace to you too,
Geezers shouldn't quarrel.
We need to focus our energy at keeping the young'uns at bay...

Youth and Enthusiasm.
Unless I'm wrong...
