Sonus Connect to Replace Squeezebox?

 My parents have been using a basic, original Squeezebox for years, replacing them as they die.

I'm wondering if the Sonus Connect would be a viable upgrade for them in reliability and life span. Plugin is essential. Their computer is an iMac using a Frontier Communications supplied wifi router. The Squeezebox (and DAC) is the only input to their amp and speakers.

Their musical tastes are eclectic and they enjoy "cruising the 'net" to find and sample different musical forms.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions will all be appreciated...

 OTOH, you can still buy a used Squeezebox Touch player in good condition for substantially less which should last for many years.

Advantage being they still have access to familiar touch screen user interface instead of having to adapt to a new "headless" environment.

 It will work great with one caveat; Sonos app on pad or phone does not like wifi extenders. I had an extender and had nothing but problems. Did a lot of head scratching. Finally called a local Sonos installer and he dropped in an additional wifi router in my music room to eliminate extender. Works perfectly. Highly recommend and Sonos has excellent customer service that actually answer a phone and will assist with any issues.

 You can still get all of the Squeezeboxes, of various kinds, you want on ebay. Now that there are alternatives which will work with LMS, folks will be putting more on ebay as they upgrade to other players which work with LMS.

The SONOS system is nice, we use it every day. Mostly the speaker in the kitchen. We also have the CONNECT but to be honest, the sound quality is not up to audiophile standards so I've banished it to the office.

If I were used to the Squeezebox system, I would not want to change. Especially if it's set up as I liked it. We may go to LMS here and I will be fine with lots of Raspberry Pi players all over the house but the wife will NEVER use it. She will ONLY play the SONOS because she knows how to get it to play exactly what she wants and THAT might be the most important consideration in the decision process.
