it seems to work pretty good, thanks for the help, also your video was helpful as was your web site.

took me about 20 minutes to figure out because I forgot the port 9000.

I don't see how the program failing to work is MY fault. I give up. You are all delusional, on PCP, and members of the church of LMS.

are you trying to install LMS on the Pi or your home computer?, posted on April 14, 2017 at 07:38:10
I can try to help, I don't think LMS can work on the Pi, since it uses an ARM chipset.

you'll have to install LMS on your home computer. Apple Intel based chip or Windows x86 platform.

He should at least try the stable version and not the beta

Please - do not spread such a nonsense!

LMS works without issues on the RPI!!!

There might be slight performance issues under certain
conditions. And that's about it!

Are you still using your own distro?

Does this fix the WIFI incompatibilities with the Digi+ Pro?

https://www.hifiberry.com/blog/wlan-driver-bug-in-raspberry-pi-kernel/

Can't get onboard wifi to work nor a dongle. The latter may be due to my poor comprehension of Linux/Putty

I am using 3 players (WiFi) with the 3.11 Audio Version and they are working just fine. Using Digi+ too.

**Please note: This version is only recommended for I2S soundcards and hardwired network. The optimizations for audio has been known to interfere with wifi, and for sure will make USB soundcards unstable.

RE: PiCorePlayer Beta 5 is Old News....Beta 6 is out, posted on April 14, 2017 at 09:15:33
Thats great.

But we are talking about version 3.20 beta6 "Audio".

Version 3.11 never had a problem with wifi.

Version 3.20 Beta6 vanilla ie not the Audio version wifi works.

RE: It's stated in the release notes Soundchek posted last week, posted on April 14, 2017 at 09:27:22
That was the Beta5 version.

2. piCorePlayer3.20beta5-Audio version. This version contain all the same improvements as the above normal version. But in addition we have added all the audio related patches that Clive (aka JackOfAll) made for the raspberry kernel. So here we have support for more i2s-DACs and we support higher sample rates etc.
**Please note: This version is only recommended for I2S soundcards and hardwired network. The optimizations for audio has been known to interfere with wifi, and for sure will make USB soundcards unstable.

The question is asking about the Beta6 and whether the WiFi is fixed.

RE: PiCorePlayer Beta 5 is Old News....Beta 6 is out, posted on April 14, 2017 at 09:28:06
I tried 3.11 and people said I was using the old version. I try the latest beta and now people say I should use the stable version. Talk about moving the goal posts.

If LMS does not work on the PI then why is installing it an option?

If LMS cannot be installed then how is pi core useful to someone that wants an all in one solution.....like oh I don't know, any of the MPDs?

From my experience, installing LMS (or other MPD) on the Pi will undoubtedly cause some problems. Since the OS runs entirely in RAM, and that is limited on the Pi, resources are being used that may well interfere with audio SQ.

And BTW, LMS runs on linux OSes, not just Windoze and Apple!

RE: PiCorePlayer Beta 5 is Old News....Beta 6 is out, posted on April 14, 2017 at 09:53:11
1) 3.11 is the current "released' version ie not beta, the web site clearly shows this.

2) LMS does work with Arm boards as well as PiCorePlayer, I've done it several times.

Nonsense. I have been running LMS on a rpi 2 for more than a year. No problem (raspbian jessie lite). Serving music/ decoding a flac is not a heavy load.

Installing LMS was not PnP, I'll give you that.

Running 3.11 with Digi+ Pro, no Wifi. And it's sitting only 3 feet from the FIOS router. The tablet that runs the squeeze control is connected there too by wifi.

Is there any truth to Bullethead's comment that metal case inhibits wifi?

A Putty primer might be nice. (hint, hint)

Sometimes having an IP address that changes can create problems with WiFi. I set up all my computers, RPi included, with static IP addresses, and never have this kind of problem.

Does the RPi show up in the WIFI settings in the PiCorePlayer pages?

Since WiFi is in the RPi board itself, why would it not work with any of the HiFiBerry digi+ boards?

Perhaps the OP has an older RPi that does not have wireless built in.

Yes, I have many things on my network (printer, LMS server) set to static IP addresses. I don't see anything in piCore where one can change the IP address. I looked in the router and there's a static IP address for it but I see nowhere to change the IP of RPI

I can see my network and password in the wifi tab of PCP on I can watch the
rpi boot and load the broadcom firmware and find the wifi adapter but it doesn't connect to the network.

I'm going to keep at it till I make it work. Love the sound.

Does the RPI show up in the WiFi section of the pCP page? If you press the Scan button?

You might try to set this up whilst the RPi is connected to the network with a CAT cable. Once I found the MAC address, I set that up with a static IP address in the router software.

Change the RPi IP address in PiCorePlayer, select the BETA tab at the bottom then Static PI as seen in the pic

Pasword is correct, it is displayed by picore player during reboot.

wifi db is up to date
wifi is on

no wifi devices found

In the picore wifi tab:

ralink and broadcom were loaded on exit from picore wifi setup

wifi line in picore says

"Wifi IP: is missing - reboot or connect required".

Take it out of the case and see if that works... At least you'll know.

If that desn't work install the audio version for 3.11 ... I know that version works.

If that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with your Pi ---- You do have the 3b version of the Pi, right ?

It appears it's not connecting with the network. This is with a fresh burh of 3.10 audio

Here's the wifi page of pcp. It seems to find my network but says the ip address is missing. Try Reconnecting never changes this

Now, here's the log file after reconnecting. No lease

AS the unit reboots, there's an error message that says "Error for wireless request Set ESSID (8B1A) too few arguments"

The lid is not on my metal case but I'll try removing the unit from the bottom half of the metal case.

Do you only Have 1 Rpi ? ...... Do you have a friend that may have one, that you could use on your network..... Or buy another one?

Lots of ways to troubleshoot, but it appears that your WiFi is not working on your Pi....

May be so, I removed the Digi+Pro card and set picore for usb audio output still no wifi.

I also did the hack to turn Bluetooth off.

Currently downloading NOOBS/raspbian to see if it's a problem with PCP. SD card preesently reformatting.

Very frustrating but I'll perservere.

Not sure what next but I'm going back to PCP and enjoy some tunes over Ethernet :-)

Now that you know everything is working hardware wise, you can just etch a new PcP onto your card and go from there.

Not sure what the setting was that was causing your problem, but if you take it slow, one step at a time, I'm sure you'll get it working.

I have 3 working wireless, all running 3.11 Audio Version.....

Edit: ---- But they all have the Digi+ Board not the Digi+ Pro ...... So, maybe the Pro Version has a problem with Wireless with PiCorePlayer ??
