 And is Ralph ever excited about what this new guitar amp can do! It's OTL (of course), but biased Class A/B to reduce the heat output, and has its own integrated vertical array speaker. All of his prototypes have been sold, and there is a fair amount of buzz developing in the guitar performing community already. One of the great things about it, according to Ralph, is the performers can actually hear themselves and each other on-stage when using the thing -- that's part of the great feedback he's getting about it. When you talk to him, he really lights up about this design!

He has reason to be excited about the 'Evolution One' guitar / instrument amp; I'm fortunate enough to have heard it. In fact, RK let me noodle on his electric sitar for a bit (no, I have not the slightest idea how the instrument is played).

The tone - make that range of tone from this amp, is absolutely stunning. The unit has as much gain as several Marshall amps in series, and full control over every stage. We're talking knobs - a lot of knobs. With all of this control, one can take the amp from startling clarity and neutrality to the most crunchy, sustained distortion one could ever dream of. In short, this is an amazing piece of amplification.

Irrespective of how things pan out for Ralph, Mark and Harry at Atma-Sphere, I'm looking forward with great anticipation to the day the Evo One enters the market.
