Not familiar with him, per se, but likely have many recordings with him,
Tito Rodriguez for sure and I have all of Eddie Palmieri's recordings.

Thanks for the link - he had a long, successful career.

May he Rest in... Paz.

Trumpet player may be is Armenteros (Benny More's cousin).

One of my all time favorite son montunos, originally written and recorded by Cheo Marquetti.

but not EP. I like Valdes a lot, probably because he cops so much from EP, who is a huge fav!!!

One of those titles that passed me by. I've found SAR to be hit and miss and I missed that (it's now
a pretty expensive CD, but I'll track down a reasonably priced copy), and I have a few LP titles on SAR.
Seems like Chocolate was the house trumpeter, plus he some (great) titles on SAR.

I like their cover artwork style too

So many gems waiting to be heard...

Thanks for hipping me to that dude!

Now, that would actually be Alfredito Valdes (or Jr.).

His father was sonero for Septeto Nacional back in the 30's, eventually moved to the states.

Their names get crossed a lot in credits, sometime Sr. is mistakenly credited as Alfredito.

It's not Eddie, rather his brother Charlie.

So my mind is only partially slipping.
