 Not a fan of Del Ray. Spektor is quirkier and more real. Good lyricist. Nice piano player. What you get if Tori Amos and Michael Cera had a baby. Not a raging fan, but had a heavy fascination with Begin to Hope Extended Version (CD) when it came out in 2006. The songs on Begin to Hope are more stripped back than recent outings. Great album. If Del Ray's the moody C student, Spektor is the bright musical A student. (Any reasonable person would understand that I know nothing about their actual academic careers.) ;-)
