Rod asked for our top 5 sound good/audition discs, now lets get some list of desert island music. List the top 10 discs you would have to have with you on the proverbial desert island. Mine are (in no particular order of preference): Ella Fitzgerald - Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie - best recording she Roy Eldridge - Little Jazz - a collection of recordings Roy made Art Tatum - Group Masterpieces # 8 with Ben Webster. Thelonius Monk - Alone in San Francisco. Fats Waller - any good 20 tune compilation Count Basie - the complete Decca recordings. The best band Basie Duke Ellington - the Blanton/Webster Band. Best band Duke ever Ray Brown Trio - Summer Wind (Live at The Loa) - Gene Harris on Jazz at Massey Hall - Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Frank Sinatra - Songs for Swingin' Lovers.
