Stopping for a drink

And a bite to eat.

Relaxing after emptying the feeders.

Nice place you have here.

wants only food.

He's hitting the homes in the neighborhood knocking down bird feeders, or so it's been reported today.

Santa Fe County Sheriff is hot on this trail but we didn't rat him out. Honest.

Cat was out in the screened in deck and when it came over the wall to get to the tree with feeder she was a GONE cat.

Still slinking about the house a couple hours later.

Sadly, all of our windows and doors are screened so there was really no great shots to be had. Didn't seem the least concerned with me being a few feet away with only a screen door between us though.

I hope that's security flyscreen mesh!

You lot get shit scared of a few Aussie spiders and snakes, but are happy to have these monsters cruising around your back yard.

No thanks!

- No bird feeders or other animal feeders in your yard.

- Get a bear proof trash can. Keep it shut tight.

Funny thing, the last time our suburban neighborhood encountered bears the Sheriff's Dept dialed up reverse 911 phone calls warning people to stay inside for personal safety. It had the opposite effect as everyone came out to spot the cute bear!

and just a cub.

If mom or dad is around I'm locking doors.

Completely ignored us. And as there was no food in the screened in porch, no interest in me at all.

This is a rare site for us, even though we are way out of town. Homes are hundreds of feet distant and we border on a wilderness preserve so who knows what's out there?

Bob cats and coyotes are the norm and deer are everywhere day and night, but this is our first bear.

And in broad daylight, not just on a critter cam as is usually the case.

Kind of sad it thinks it's a bird.

We had a young black bear walk into our town of 50K, getting in trash cans, bird feeders etc, doing bear stuff. Our state Conservation Dept euthanized the young bear saying it had become too used to people and wouldn't do well it taken back to the wild. Bang Flop Dead! A lot of people were outraged for a few days.

You can see and hear a bear if he break into your home. Spiders and snakes sneak into your bed while you're asleep ;-)
