When I lived in Europe these were cult cars.

A movie was even made in 1991 called Manta Manta...trailer https://youtu.be/fYjKkRT7iNg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manta,_Manta) which had a large viewing audience for the type of film it was, a car racing and car chase movie with actor Til Schweiger being introduced to the movie world and later on in movies such as Driven, Replacement Killers, Inglorious Bastards, Tomb Raider, Deuce Bigalow, Atomic Blonde, and a slew of others in German and English.

Opel has reported that the new resurrected Manta will be an EV with the looks and styling of the older Manta due to its appeal.

I kind of like these older Euro muscle cars.

As much as I like the Manta A (the Manta B was ugly as sin)calling them 'muscle cars' is a bit of a stretch with 105hp max.

SHEESH!

And ALL we got here in the USofA was our choice of the

Kadett or the Opel GT.......Both with maximum power provided by the 1.9 of MAYBE 100hp.....

I think the Kadett could be had with an engine out of a SINGER Sewing Machine.....
Too much is never enough

For Germany at this time...-it was the closest they could get. Camaro, Mustangs, and Corvettes were usually grey area imports, and as rare as a dodo bird. The Manta A gave them the feeling. Agree, the Manta B is ugly.

You could just buy an Opel Kapitän, Admiral or Diplomat with a 4.6 or 5.4L small block for the 'feeling'.

I loved the Manta. Might have bought one., posted on September 24, 2021 at 15:57:38

Except they sprouted battering-ram bumpers in 1974, and when Nixon devalued the dollar, the price of European cars skyrocketed.

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
