I've ran over this ground a few times, so I won't do much but ADD one minor point....

First, a recap. People are violent, and all that smart and essentially JEALOUS animals.

We are run by our LIZARD BRAIN and that's all of it.

And keep in mind ONE bit of sort-of new information.

An experiment, if you will? Next time you go out in public where there is a gathering of people, just look around.....
One thing to keep in mind? HALF OF EVERYONE you see is below average. Even the Military won't take you if you are below about 80IQ......

Would YOU want to get involved with that crowd?

Evil always wins. Evil has always won, evil is winning now.
Evil is more ruthless, has more resources, holds sway over more people.
The worst are always full of passionate intensity, and the best always lack all conviction.

Don't be ridiculous. During his 'careeer' his decisions are DIRECTLY responsible for the deaths of around 60,000,000 of his fellows......
The list of atrocities is endless, from screwing his 'friends' to eliminate rivals to staring the peasants by shipping the food they grew overseas to bolster his 'industrial' aspirations.

You are completely uninformed. Did he ever pull the trigger on another person? Doubtful, since he was essentially a lazy coward.

I remember in Psych class that around 10% of the population is sociopathic/psychopathic.

We know by the age of 10 if a kid is one of the above. There is no cure. At best you can get them to function in society. If they are intelligent they become CEOs and politicians where winning matters at any cost because other humans do not matter.

I care more about the EQ scale than the IQ scale. Plenty of kind gentle soles with an average IQ or below average IQ. Too many with low (or no) EQ and high IQ screwing up the planet.

IQ is acknowledged to be a 'flawed' measure.

I read somewhere that there are mahybe 10 or 12 'kinds' of intelligence.

Social is just one of 'em......Ability to deal with numbers, maybe.

Here's a list of 8.....which seems to cover a LOT of ground....

Logical-mathematical intelligence. ...
Linguistic intelligence. ...
Spatial Intelligence. ...
Musical Intelligence. ...
Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence. ...
Intrapersonal Intelligence. ...
Interpersonal Intelligence. ...
Naturalistic intelligence.

It's all of us, it's human nature.
Capitalism, communism, socialism...it doesn't matter what "ism" you choose, the most ruthless, greedy, and sociopathic among us will end up controlling the system for their own benefit and at everyone else's expense. They'll kill not just to hold on to what they have (and in most cases never earned); they'll kill to get more, more, more, and they get the most satisfaction by taking it away from other people.
Go back 500, 1000, 5,000 years, the story's the same.
And the ruthless, greedy bastards don't just prosper; in most cases, they're admired. Held up as heroes, as examples we should strive to be. Andrew Jackson drove slave coffles and exterminated Native Americans just as surely as Hitler killed Jews. Jackson graces our $20 bill.
The cell phone in your pocket, the vegetables on your table, the meat in your hamburger, the clothes on your back, the car in your driveway...atrocities have to be committed in order for you (and me) to have that stuff.

A simple metaphor: it takes a considerable amount of time to grow a forest, but a few short hours to burn it down--- and one lit match. Yet, human beings and civilizations continue to thrive.

As we look around the planet, human life for MOST humans radically has improved over the last 200 years, thanks largely to science. We are, if anything, a too successful species, directly contradicting the nay-sayers, from Malthus on--- the guys, you know, who have preached "End Days!" forever.

Love, empathy, kindness---- these are more basic human characteristics than any negative ones.

Humanity, however, has not improved a lick since long before Caesar crossed the Rubicon. And it never will.
I'm not predicting any End Times, I'm not a believer in that garbage. But it should plain as the nose on your face that good guys only win in the movies. In real life, the bad guys always come out smelling like the proverbial rose.

Recently, I saw a post bringing up the subject of anthropomorphism.....As humans we tend to judge by OUR standards.
This does NOT apply to a truly ALIEN species. They could have or may NOT have motivations and goals which we'd identify with or even perhaps subscribe to.....

One thing I feel on firm ground about is that they will stay OUT of our affairs....at least in public, because of the consequences.

You see what you want.
Exponential growth says population will DOUBLE by certainly the end of the century. Let's hope food production doubles, as well.....that's just 'break even'....

And I certainly doubt like crazy your contention that 'life for MOST humans radically has improved'
Most of the popoulation of this planet is living day-to-day with everything from an Unassured food supply to no way to even get a good glass of water.

The MATH of exponential growth is undeniable. At some point, a limit will be reached. Be that the pollution limit. Or some critical resource. Or perhaps per capita food supply....At that point we enter a period of DownWard Spiral.

Think of our situation as a teeter totter. We, as a species, must balance many things at once to have LONG TERM survival. That means SUSTAINABLE. Right now? Fisheries are right on the brink of unrecoverable. That forest you don't want to burn? Tell that to BRAZIL. Large parts of the ATACAMA desert (parts of Bolivia, Perue, Chile and Argentina) are being laid waste in the search for MORE Lithium for our electric cars and toys.

Love, empathy, kindness? What planet are YOU from? How about averice, greed, stupidity?

The jury is still far from returning with a verdict on the subject of 'Intelligence as an aid to Long Term Survival'.....at least in human terms.

Intentionally misunderstanding for a 'joke value' comeback.

LIZARD BRAIN refers to the core of the human brain. And that part which governs many autonomic responses to stress or threat.

this part of the brain, at the core, essentially SHORT CIRCUITS any reasoning.......90% or more of humanity RUNS ON this system on a day to day basis. Like the recent rash or Road Rage Shootings.

As far as life being better for "most" people, that's incontestable. The life expectancy of our species as a whole, has radically expanded.

Yes, the future can be looked at negatively, but to be negative, you must only see that side.

Human overall health and longevity is at an all-time high.

Look at the present and don't think you can foresee the future. People that have tried have been wrong for ages, literally, yet here we stand.

are living healthy and long lives. Note: this is not subjective, it is backed up by global stats compiled by many different entities and gathered into books by the likes of Steven Pinker.

There are challenges, but I'll take humans over the past 10,000 years as evidence we can solve them. Betting against one's own species says more about the person than any objectivity. There simply is no reason to do it.

The Enlightenment, the popularity of religion with its message of brotherhood/sisterhood, the arguments for social services and more humane societies--- no one ever votes for a repressive one.

The idea of EXPONENTIAL GROWTH is very compelling.

I DO contest the idea of life being better for 'most people'. I see many countries with 4 digit percapita even WHEN factoring in cost of living.

Few resources which began to run short were EVER replaced by a less expensive alternative.

Sure for the Western World, health IS at an all-time high. But I suspect the gap between best and worst has NOT appreciably narrowed in the last 50 years.....or perhas since the end of WWII.....Call it 75 years. Lifespan, which has increased by <1% annually for the last 50 years is NOT to be equated with qualify of life.

Computer Modeling CLEARLY shows Limits To Growth which few today will buy into. The Future is not like some SciFi novel of infinite growth, asteroid mining and moving to another planet to ruin THAT one too.

I don't buy it at all. Certain 'limiting' resources are being consumed at rates growing annually. Using confirmed resources, it is fairlly easy to compute WHEN such a resource runs low. OF COURSE, new sources for some stuff is continuing to be found. And some formerly little used resources, like LITHIUM, are coming into much wider use.

I could make the REVERSE arguement which is JUST as valid and accuse the 'No probem here....move along". crew of wearing Rose Colored Glasses.

World Population MUST be decreased. Resource use must be considered in the Long Term. Vital diversity must be preserved.

the message of The Georgia Guidestones should be heeded......

Like I said above, our gadgets are cooler (at least, for some of us). We live longer, too (some of us).
But the human condition hasn't changed since days of cave paintings. The most ruthless, greedy, and sociopathic among us rule at our expense.
And, in most cases, a substantial number of us worship them even as they blatantly exploit us.
I'm not singling out any one country. Evil gets rewarded because of humans and the way they think. It never has changed (indeed, it hasn't even improved) and it never will.
How prosperous we are or how long we can expect to live has nothing to do with it.

completely unforeseen by futurists. Now, Covid has reduced population growth, even further.

There is much randomness in our world that no one can predict. Decades ago, I read a humorous exposure of exponential growth using Arnold Schwarzenegger's amazing wealth accumulation as an example: if he had continued his wealth accrual at the same rate for 10 years, he would have owned the entire world's wealth. There are many statistical reasons that exponentials don't indefinitely continue.

world's history. Human nature, according to you who subscribe to the Marquis de Sade's philosophy (look it up), is all negative. This flies in the face of history: human life expectancy is VASTLY higher than it was 50 years ago. So are world-wide diseases. Hatred didn't do this.

I wish you'd address facts instead of pseudo-scientific assessments of "lizard-brain" theory.

Love, cooperation, feelings of humanity--- these have "everything to do" with our great sides in overall human life.

You want to be negative in the face of all objectivity.

Covid is a great example: there were evil people trying to profit; there were many more who were determined to help their fellow man. Doctors, nurses, caregivers, scientists: they turned the tide. Yes, there are examples of evil temporarily winning, like in Brazil, but even there, people are realizing their error.

Population increase is STILL running nearly 1.1% annual increase. This is projected to drop to 0.9% within a few years. In time? Who Knows?

That is a 72 year 'doubling' and puts the planet at 14 billion before the end of the century. With no idea how to FEED THEM short of Soylent Green.

Yes Gardner's Theory of multiple intelligences.

IQ tests originally had problems because they tended to value mathematics science and were culturally biased so unless you grew up in the country you couldn't answer the questions accurately. This aided in Eugenics wars and of course racial motivations to make it seem like an outside group was inferior.

Moreover, people can be trained in IQ tests so that they can increase their score on an actual IQ test - which defeats the purpose of the thing.

It's one measure among several.

Guy in Botswana has a good video? We'll never see it. Italy has 300 cases per year, many with multiple points of (unrelated) view. We'll never hear of it.

UFO Coverage is by and large, MARGINALIZED and observers are suspect.
The list of questions?
1. Fake Video?
2. For persosnal gain?
3 What is it...REALLY?

And maybe a few more....

I don't even know any more? Does MUFON keep good and public records of sightings and videos?

Wanna stop global warming, population has to shrink by at least half and we'll need to reverse the entire Industrial Revolution.
Southwestern US is a good example. Too hot and too dry for human habitation. Trying to make it cool enough and wet enough just makes it hotter and dryer.
People who live there now should move somewhere else, but where?

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

IN GENERAL, tend to agree.
Population -50%? MIght not be drastic enough.

California is heading for a HUGE dry summer and prediciton for draught level WINTER...which is our 'rainy' season.... As is the Remainder of the 'Great South West'......

I suggest....for your consideration.....that the problem is multi-facted. Population, of course.
But add in Standard of Living and the concept of sustainability.

Please look up 'Georgia Guidestones' for another view and something which is a 'modern mystery' with nobody taking responsiblity for this construction.....or at least the FUNDING.
