My Z06 was pretty quick for me... but no matter how quick, there's always something more so.

I guess I am. A fair proportion of the cars I've owned were made by GM.
Hard to be full-throated GM supporter, so many of their cars have been shit, and the company has a way of making cars that disappoint in one way or another.
But I like their cars. They're easier to work on, for one thing. Not easy, just easier.

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

I've owned 2 BMW's (I'd own another), maybe 4 Fords, the rest GM. The only Dodge were 3 minivans, but they were never "my car"; either my wife's, or a third. So I guess that counts as 3 Dodge's, but... just vehicles we needed, not me (the wife currently drives a Nissan, but again that's hers).
Pretty much thru the years, if I were to pick from the big 3 it'd be GM then Ford. Never owned a truck, but it'd be a GM if I had to buy one.
So yep, a GM guy mostly.

At least post-1998, after Ford ditched the awful Twin I-Beam suspension. Feels lighter than the S-10, has rack and pinion steering, which the S-10 didn't.
But I like the S-10, too.
"Sort of" is about all the enthusiasm I can work up. I like my car, but the panel gaps on the body are laughable, the interior plastics are like Little Tykes, and every single Victory Red Cobalt I've seen, the paint on the trunk lid doesn't match the paint on the rear bumper cap.
Good bones, but it could have been so much more if anybody in GM management gave a damn.

Sorry, no idea really what S10 and Rangers are thru the years... never needed or owned a truck.
GM or Ford of even a few years ago were not too great compared to now for sure. My '04 Z06 radio and heater was bad plastic for sure.
Still, mostly a GM guy. My Acadia is super nice inside and out, interiors are nothing like they used to be.
GM guy mostly regardless. By "sort of a GM guy" I meant 80/20 GM/Ford, no lack of enthusiasm.

Seats are comfortable, everything is where you expect it to be.
But that's where it ends.
I put a lot of miles on the S-10 working for a courier company. GM used the front suspension and steering from the downsized mid-sized cars they introduced in 1978. No fun to drive with manual steering--the steering is too slow--but can be fun with power steering and a few suspension upgrades (shocks, sway bars).
Rangers with Twin I-Beam, that was just a swing axle suspension. Bad geometry, lot of unsprung weight. Ford junked the Twin I-Beam (and Twin Traction-Lok) in 1998, went to double wishbones and rack & pinion steering.

My 01 C5 Z06 was fast at the time in Germany. Then, I contacted Katech Racing, the same guys who build the Corvette R series race engines used in 12/24 hour events such as Lemans, and it was even more faster.

Those are fighting words...but yeah with the cars I own, the Z06 would leave me in the dust.
