Well Rod, Gohmert is in fact now saying that he was kidding. He, IMO, sure gave no sign of it in his questioning and I think he is lying. According to Facts First he initially did not respond to a CNN request for clarification. Some believe it is his attempt to deny human causality for global warming.

At any rate, after reading the article I now understand references to Gomer Pyle. As I opined elsewhere, this reinforces the idea that the quality of western leadership is in a steep decline.
