I have a theory that I never tested & will never test (because I swore off sports betting).

As a season evolves into late November & a team remains unbeaten, bet heavy against them. For one thing, you will be getting points, & for another thing, statistically speaking, they will probably not finish the season unbeaten. If you lose the first week you go heavy against them, double up the next week, & so on & so on until you win.

I also feel that this theory could be applied against a team that has no wins late into the season.

They seldom play well against Jacksonville. This goes back to when the Jaguars first entered the league.
Second, they play lousy on the road against lousy teams. Seems to be the MO for the past couple decades.
But this year, they're beating the teams they should beat, which is a surprise.

Don't bet on games, don't play slots, don't even buy lottery tickets.

I basically quit betting after the season of 2000.
I did, however, make an exception & I bet The Steelers in the Superbowl they played against Seattle back in '06.

If I was still betting, I'd go with my theory & I'd start betting (the spread) against the Steelers until they lost, as I assume that they (The Steelers) will be giving up points. It might not work, but that's the way I'd go (if I was betting). The early line for the Thanksgiving night game is the Steelers minus two.

Schadenfreude? It wasn't even close, G-man. Jags=3 (three) points. Oh, , posted on November 23, 2020 at 06:46:01

Since Mike Tomlin took over as HC the Steelers are 10-19 against the spread, posted on November 23, 2020 at 07:08:32

when they're favored by ten or more points. That's according to Football Outsiders, and I think it's worst in the NFL.
By the way, I'm throwing down the gauntlet. My nose is so big (how big is it?) that it got sunburned Friday while I was out on the bike.

So there!

This "spread" thing is bogus. You're projected to win or not. How does Tomlin do against teams he's supposed to beat? I don't let gambling establishments determine my analyses...

If I ever started betting football again (which I won't), I think I would only take the points. It's the NFL & any team can win in any game; therefore you always have a 'live dog' & you are getting points to boot.
