...referring to one of my Ferraris, to meet a friend for dinner at the little BBQ-shack down the road (outdoor seating at picnic tables only BTW). He and his buddy are "car-geeks" and he wanted to show his friend one of my Ferraris because he had just bought a "pony car"--a 2018 Hennessey Super-Snake Mustang GT.

It's only ~3 miles away, so I rode one of my Arabians just to be an ass. Does that count? It's real horse-power? It's a "prancing horse"--just not the yellow and black marque?

"The Look" was priceless--tied him up to the lamp-post in the parking lot and had some great pulled-pork, hot potato salad, and mustard greens. My poor horse now has more fingerprints on him than a cheap motel room, but the rest of the guests appreciated him--HUGE hit with the kids that were there.

Right now--"different" is better.

...the pics of the Testarossa are here, but I haven't posted pics of the 360 Spider, yet--I can do that, as well.

Do you have a winter rat for those salt soaked Ohio winters?

...and if things get really ugly, a couple vintage tractors, backhoe, and a Bobcat T630 front-end loader--I use it to plow snow LOL.

I've got the two Ferraris and a Ford GT for fun in the summer, but they'll be put away before the snow hits.

I grew-up in the snow-belt--I know the drill. If all else fails, there are two Clydesdales and four Belgians out in the stables LOL--they don't "get stuck".

You guys don't have yearly inspections, so you can probably keep a winter rat for a long time.
I've got an '02 Sierra that runs great, but if the place where I get it inspected at shuts down this fall, I am going to start running it only at night & in the winter. Yearly inspections can be like legalized robbery if you can't find the right shop.

to ride a horse while intoxicated. The old 19th century law assumed the horse was sober enough to get you home

20 odd years ago I was at a restaurant/bar near Naperville, the "Country House", in an area that still had a few old timer horse farm holdouts, but was mostly McMansions. A drunk stumbled in and said he didn't drive, but rode his horse; everybody laughed and somebody bought him a beer.

Sure enough, when we left, his horse was tied up outside.

My GT350 has been the best Ford Muscle car I have ever owned. The Super Snake takes that same feeling and adds another dimension to it, haha.

Both of mine are 2019s, so no issues there, but, yes, we don't have annual inspection. I was born/raised a PA-boy, and it used to be twice a year--now it is only once (annual). We were close enough to the border (with OH) that you'd see classified ads with "good OH car" in the listing--aka won't pass inspection and would cost more than it's worth to even try.

As a kid, I always had some kind of muscle car and a "sled" for the winter. Put away the Stang, Firebird, Camaro or Vette and drive the 20+ year-old station wagon or truck for the winter--they weren't pretty (three different colors of primer and what's left of the vinyl wood-grain), but they started on a cold morning. I know the drill--had a few that the new battery was probably worth more than the whole vehicle LOL. That was all pre-emissions, and I had "a guy" that would just come over and put the sticker on the windshield for a few "extra" bucks.

Now I sound like Archie and Edith--"those were the days" LOL. We did a lot of really stupid shit with cars way back when--drag racing on the street, and taking corners at 100+ mph in 5000 lb cars on (bias, not radial) tires that the tread was drawn on with a Sharpie marker--and MOST of us lived.

...which drivetrain is in that one? There are so many Mustang variants in recent years, that I can't even keep-up anymore.

My favorite (that I have owned) was one of the '79 Pace Cars (the silver/grey w/orange ponies on the sides) with the 2.3L turbo. Totally primitive (by today's standards), but the 4-banger actually made more hp than the 5.0 GT of the same year. Pre-fuel injection, so the turbo drew through a 2 bbl carb, and the tranny was only a 4-spd manual LOL. Just to be a total PITA, it had metric rims, so the ONLY tires you could buy for it (at the time) were the factory-equipped Michelin TRX.

My current stable includes a 1990 Testarossa, 2004 360 Spider, 2005 Ford GT, two Clydesdales, four Belgians, two Arabians, two Appaloosas, four goats, and a donkey.

...I live in Painesville, OH (outside of Cleveland) on the last remaining homestead of what was once a pre-Civil War 750 acre farm. 500 acres of it is now a country club across the street, and the rest is McMansion developments. Not too many horses in the "neighborhood".

Nice stable you got. The Ford GT is my favorite.

So, the GT350 engine, nicknamed "Vodoo", was benchmarked against the Ferrari 458 engine. It's a 5.2 liter DOHC 4 valve motor. Ford opted to keep a single intake and dual exhaust design, vice the Ferraris's dual intake and single exhaust...plus, the Ferrari's and Fords Vodoo design, although similar 180 degree designs for flat plane crank motor, Ford opted to make the 180 degree out from each piston in line, rather than Ferrari's 180 degree out for the center pistons from the outer two, ala, 4 cylinder for each bank. The result is a motor that revs easily to nearly 8400 all day long with that unique flat plane crank sound. The rest of the driveline is a modified lightweight 6 speed Tremec transmission with lightweight clutch, floating brake hats, magnetic shocks.

Before I bought the Shelby, I was looking for a used Audi R8, Porsche Turbo, GT3, or Ferrari 430, 360..something exotic. If the prices of the older Ford GT stayed stable, I was looking at those. Waiting on some rental property in Germany to sell, will see. Now, I am looking at the new Corvette Z06 when it arrives in a few years. Supposed to have 9k redline and also flat plane crank. Love this type of motor.

Past cars....67 Mustang Fastback with 427, 69 Camaro SS with 350, 1979 Z-28, 1987 Iroc-z, 1996 911, 1999 BMW M roadsters, 2001 BMW M3 Coupe, 2001 BMW M3 convertible, 1997 C5 Corvette, ,2001 C5 Z06 Corvette (custom build motor and other race components for autobahn and road racing at Hockenheim F1 track, 600hp) ), 2002 C5 Z06, 2005 C6 Corvette. Currently own the 2016 Shelby GT350, and I just picked up a 2018 Land Rover Velar, but may trade in for a LR HSE sport next year....it's on trial, and what's next??? I no longer race because of a bad incurred while on Active Duty, so will never get Recaro seats again.

Honestly, my audio hobby eats into my car hobby, haha. I could have purchased a 2005 Ford GT and then some, with the amount of money I have thrown into this hobby over the years.

Hi dark Dave ,

Nice collection you got there . When my friend's ask me to bring my prancing horse , I don't drive my Ferrari but what I drive is my Porsche 930 and they're wondering why . When I show them the badge of the Porsche , they understand that it's not only the Ferrari who has a prancing horse but the Porsche as well .

Best regard and stay safe ,

Mondial

True pictureguy the acronym it self BMW is Bavarian Motor Works and it's is indeed the BMW make good engines . Love the M30 engine in my euro 635CSI specially when it's " on cam" starting at 4000 rpm , it's so smooth like a turbine engine .

When I was still in HS.....call it '68 or '69, we had a motorhead neighbor. Not a redneck (this WAS in Florida!) but into road racing.
He owned a PRE WAR 325 or 328? It had and ENGLISH inline 6 with 2 valves per cylinder. It had 3 pushrods and rockers per, though. The 3rd was a 'relay' rocker across the TOP the cylinder head. You ended up with either a PentRoof or True Hemi cylinder head.....and cross flow. Intake on ONE side and exhaust the other......
In the 90s when I visited the BMW museum, I saw a compete example of what I saw as a restorable 25+ years earlier.
Too much is never enough

...it's kind of funny that you mention the similarities of the engines--since I just sold my 2015 458 Speciale when I bought the 360 Spider. I had it before I bought the Testarossa and the Ford GT, and after I purchased them, it became "less-favored". One hell of a car--don't get me wrong, but too much techno-wizardry. I prefer a real stick (even though the DCT is incredible), and I have an aversion to touch-screens for everything. I like a DIY gearbox, and manual controls that just fall to hand. The Testarossa doesn't even have power steering or ABS.

It helped "motivate" me to sell when someone tracked me down and offered me almost $100K more than I had paid for it two years previously. It was an extremely rare color/option car--apparently a custom-order. I was the second owner, but the first owner spec'd the car to be different than most. So the profit alone from the sale nearly paid for the cost of the 360 Spider.

I love the 2005 GT. I've seen/heard (but not driven) one of the new ones, but really not all that interested in that TT V-6 drivetrain. I've driven one of the new C8 Vettes (Z51 performance package), and it is impressive for the money. Even with the full ($4800) carbon-fiber trim package it still has some of the standard GM cheap plastic trim interior issues. Like you, waiting on a ZO6--last Vette I owned was a 2016 ZO6.
