Now ol' Jed was determined not to spare the rod and spoil the child. No freebies for Jethro. He worked hard, did right and it is now reported that he is "worth" 50 million dollars.

TV BANTER . . . with Joanne Madden: Whatever happened to Max Baer, Jr. - Jethro on The Beverly Hillbillies? I earned every penny of my 50 mill through hard work and I did it all by myself. Don't you ever forget it!

for no particular reason that's the son of former heavyweight boxing champ Max Baer ... so maybe not an entirely self made man

Well tinear, Portland's air quality index is down to 106 and "should" get better real soon. A lot better than in the 4- 5 hundreds. Air is great now in Pacifica.

He went to HS in Sacramento. His dad's boxing manager was a local guy here too, and a county supervisor. There's a park and golf course up the river a bit that has a lot of Max Baer paraphernalia and photos. The golf course used to be a fine summer evening live music venue every week on the clubhouse deck up until Covid. But I digress. I guess old Jethro wasn't as dumb as we thought.

He was an actor, after all.

Max JR was mainly a producer, not an actor. I think the fact that Ellie May gave him the cold shoulder not only ON but OFF screen ruined him........

He likes to make up stories of how I got from poverty to quite comfortable without his or government help. It's an obsession apparently. I don't know why. I have asked him directly, but he just keeps making up fantasies and assorted nonsense. This time I'm Jethro.

Since Portland is in the Whillamette Valley(I think) I was thinking your air would have gotten better also. If not hopefully it will soon. A couple of days in the 150-170 range and I was getting a bit panicky. My lungs were feeling it. Can't imagine above 400. Get some HEPA filters if you don't have them already. Breathing nice fresh clean air sure is a nice thing.

Sure.
I see Max Jrs career in parallel with Stuart Margolin. While also had a career acting......remember the Rockford Files? He also did director duties and may have produced.
Penny Marshall did a lot of directing.
Maybe the most famous FORMER actor? Ron Howard. His body of work behind the scenes is terrific and seems always of high value / content.....

Thanks for the advice. Family is stayin' indoors as much as possible w/air filtering systems. And yes, Portlan, posted on September 19, 2020 at 09:46:52

is at the top of the Willamette ("rhymes with dammit!") Valley. Ashland is at the bottom. It's polluted from stem-to-stern now. Even in a good year (long gone), that was the case for a part of the year because of grass field burning (largest seed producers in world). Eugene had a second problem, the (now gated) lumber mill with its stinking effluvia.

Maybe it is time to find another place to go tinear. If I ever escape the rent hell hole I live in air quality will be at the top of my list. Unfortunately this likely excluded San Diego because of the cost of rent and the air quality. Gotta be near an ocean.
