The signs all said, No Smoking, No Food and No Photography. And no one heeded the last warning. The venue is Humphreys By The Bay, a small outdoor facility on San Diego's Shelter Island, that seats maybe 2,500 people or so.

Honestly, I don't have a smart phone and really don't know the ins and outs, but I can ask the wife to put it in picture mode for me. As expected, I got lousy pictures with the key people being totally over exposed in a white blob.

Next I tried doing a video with equally poor results.

Just for grins, I decided to put my finger on the person that I wanted to see better and BINGO. The phone was smart and it automatically adjusted the expose to a little square area where the Eddie was singing and I got this video.

View YouTube Video

You'll see the difference about 10 seconds into the video. The camera is an old iPhone5, I think, shot from about 70 feet from the stage.

And a big thanks to Mrs. Creative. The sunset was as gorgeous as she. Having waitresses serving craft beer during the event was so civilized and of course, the show was great.

Wonder if you can get a "steady-cam" adapter, like the kind for Go-Pros? Be nice accessory for your phone.

Clearly no auto-tune at work here. ;-)

Cool looking video, to boot.
Mrs. Creative gets bonus points for putting that together.

If you aren't quite noticing or accepting what is really going on in the present,
but are responding based on your thoughts or feelings about what ought to be,
then you are apt to collide with what is really going on.

Photo galleries with occasional shows of nothing but phone captures, and quite good pieces of work.

...I believe the iPhone 7 has a zoom lens.

And the model 8 will be out in October rumored with an even better camera.

Yeah, a steady cam or steady hand without a beer in the other one.

I'd love to see what you could do with the new phones and a fake cane that telescopes into a steady mono-pod.

Helps limit hand shake effects. You have to normally step up to a high end dslr to get that.

7 has the same main lens and stabilization as the 7+, but the 7 doesn't have the extra rear camera that is for optical telephoto and is also necessary for the 'portrait mode' that the plus can do. That mode simulates a bokeh blur effect and the algorithm for it is pretty good and probably can get better. I didn't realize the 7 didn't have the portrait mode when I ordered the 7. Oh well; still an amazing phone camera.

I would have loved to sneak in the wife's GH4 4K DSLR, but I doubt I would have gotten away with it. Though, sooner or later, I'll have to upgrade from my old Motorola flip phone.

Moto flip phones are cool. Are you going to hang on to it?

I have the Moto Razr as well as an old StarTac stored away somewhere down in the basement.

2500 people is hardly a 'small' venue. The theater at Old Town, for example holds only 200 or so.
now THAT'S small!

Captain Kirk called late last year and wanted his communicator back. I ended up with a
6S+ and it is a marvel. Great photos, even in low light, whilc the face-time feature is a crackup.

The 6 still has a headphone jack, so I'm able to connect to my stereo or my 'garage' system which has the powerhouse Dayton amp as the muscle.

I have an infrared camera which PLUGS IN and I take IR photos for fun and profit.
Photo is of my Big Green Egg as it cools!

Entire section for Fone Fotos at the Del Mar Fair of San Diego.
They hang maybe a total of 3000 pictures EVERY year.
