St. Johm's Wort. A homeopathic/natural antidepressant among other things. Grows wild around here and blooms ~ summer solstice like clockwork. BH and 456 may have overlooked this so I thought I'd bring it up.

I and another person I know have tried SJW and found it made us feel weird. Not an herb that I personally like. It can or does make skin more sensitive to sunlight. T456

I like the lighting and the black background. How did you set that up?

On the other hand, the shot could have been cropped more betterer for commercial use. But, hey, it's still a very nice shot!

:)

Brings me the weirdest dreams when I take it. The next day when I don't take it I become suicidial, no thanks. :)

...1. Set flower in doorway to large darkened room (at night) 2. Place spotlight about 4ft above and slightly forward of flower. 3. Capture image using iPhone.

OR

1. Capture image with conventional lighting set-up 2. Use photoshop to create an intensely detailed and tedious "selection" 3. Create mask using selection to "protect" the flower. 4. Erase unprotected portions of image to a black background.

Can you guess which method I used?

...musta been mega-dosing for many weeks? Not a "user" but from what I read, it takes a month of daily use for effects to fully develop.

It ain't #2. The image is too clean. Unless, you're VERY good, and, have lots of time on your hands. :)

My guess is that you might have done a little brightness/contrast. In any case, it's a great shot, suitable for cropping, printing and framing.

:)

It doesn't mix well if you are taking other medications.

And, unless it's a preparation by a reputable licensed natural therapies mfr I wouldn't risk it.

The species has hybridised, IMO and that of others.

#1 for sure! Absolutely no image adjustments but did use HDR option. Also resized down significantly to reduce upload time. If you intend to do anything with this other than look at on mobile device, will probably need to sharpen a bit.

From what I've read it renders some meds used in chemotherapy ineffective and that it is roughly as strong as Prozac with similar pitfalls during/after long-term use.

I'm lookin' at it on an 18" Samsung flat panel, and it looks great. As far as me using it? - Hahahaha! I've got a couple hundred of my own shots which are still waiting for me to get to them!

Good call on reducing the size. When I post photos, I always reduce them to about 1200 wide by whatever tall. I hate having to scroll left/right to see an image in a post.

Carry on.

:)

Method #3
Buy and keep a couple yards of BLACK VELVET.

I've used that a number of times as a background and to great effect.

This shot with flash of 2x and I used a flash meter to determine exposure. stuff most casual guys won't have.
