The definition I read of a cone is that of a shape that tapers smoothly from a flat bass. I don't see these products in Sprey's catalogue. He calls them footers. Maybe a case can be made they are cones of some sort. It is clear in most if not all of his products they come to a point at some point after a non tapered section. My main point is Dekays useless snide remarks. His attempts at making my comments look bad without really bringing anything of substance to an issue. Ha Ha Ha and pictures of ugly people and such. The last being a question if I had ever listened to EAR on 50-60lb mono blocks. What the hell does that have to do with anything? I like EAR, better that cork and rubber and couldn't have possibly listened to EAR on every piece of equipment based on weight. EAR is a suggestion, my opinion on something people interested in good sound should consider trying, in comparison to cork and rubber and decide for themselves. Ugly pictures of people and ha ha ha don't contribute to sound system improvement. Tweaker

Well Geoff, looks to me that I'm the one that gets the last laugh chump. These are not strictly cones, at least that case can be made. Also, I said that Mapleshade doesn't make cones and they don't. Pierre has them made for him to sell. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha..................... Can 54AWG be used for speaker wire without breaking and creating an open circuit? Does Mapleshade sell a 54AWG speaker cable? Answer the questions weasel. See you over at the Tweaker's asylum.

Ho, oh, ho. Good one! Guess you got the last laugh. ;-) Actually the chances are not really too good you'll be seeing me over on Tweakers. In fact the chances are quite lousy. ;-) as for 54 ga or 56 ga or whatever wire I really don't care as I don't use speaker cables or interconnects. Or power cords. I guess you could say I don't have a dog in that fight, knucklehead. ;-)

Gee, I wonder why.

Look within yourself, Grasshopper. :-)

Your insults cut right to my core Geoff. I'm crushed. Answer the f-ing questions. Does Mapleshade sell or have they ever sold or used 54 AWG for speaker wire and would it work as you have stated in the past? Anyone, IMHO, who would tout 54AWG as speaker wire is not only a knucklehead and a grasshopper like myself but a complete moron, imbecile, and any other words one could think of to describe such an utterly, completely, yugely bankrupt intellect. Clueless is the word Pierre used but he is possibly somewhat more tactful than I. At least such incredible stupidity from you is banned on the Tweaker's asylum. If I had my way you would be in real isolation where you could do no harm. You, being a math eggspurt maybe this will make sense. Your credibility is -0 to the 10th power. Tweaker

I've also used EAR footers, but on much lighter (than 50-60 pound) gear, therefore..., posted on July 25, 2016 at 16:02:50
I have no opinion as to whether they would help, or not, in such an application.

Looks like Sue K has a handle on it as she's going to experiment with both compliant and noncompliant footers.

Her picks are a few steps up from my early experiments as I used mouse pads/spongy fingernail buffing bars and lug nuts.

To make it clear I think that you tend to be a poser from time to time.

I on the other hand I may tend to be an ass (from time to time), but I do not make things up, nor do I suffer from situational memory syndrome.

Oh, and you nailed me good on the cones VS footers thing, which implies that you are capable of linear thought after all.

Keep it up.

That's kool Geoff. Everyone likes what they like. But I find it endlessly amusing that you liked 54AWG speaker wire, now that ain't kool. I and maybe other sentient beings await your explanation. Luckily I'm not holding my breath.

Wow. You really do have an inferiority complex. Most psychology majors do so no surprise there. When I want some shit out of you I'll squeeze your head.

Well Geoff, That finally answers the question for all of us on how one can do the impossible, use 54AWG for speaker wire, and I have shit for brains. Very Spock like. Good boy.

Question - shouldn't you be standing out on a ledge somewhere? Maybe time for you to take a time out. Look on the bright side, until I mentioned it you didn't know 54 ga wire existed.

Can 54awg be used as speaker wire without melting or breaking Geoff? Did Mapleshade or one of his brands put out 54AWG speaker wire. Yes or No?
