Eminence Coaxial Drivers, Opinions?

I understand that Eminence makes a limited amount of Coaxial drivers in a 12" and 15" model. Would anyone happen to have any experience with these drivers. Since at college, I have little room for my planned Altec VOT project, I was thinking about using an Altec design cabinet meant for Duplex drivers (which I can't afford) and using the more reasonably priced Eminence coax's. I also know that there are several manufacturers of fine coaxial drivers, but they are out of my budget range as a rule. Any comments would be truly appreciated. Doug Eisemann

Hi there,

I have a pair of the 1" Units on Order. They will drop into Altec Cabinets with no problem, but will have about 3db more midbass and a little less loww bass Output, not neccesarily bad given that 604's with "flat" X-Overs can sound a little lean.

Once I have received mine I'll comment further.

THanks Thorsten, Just before I read your reply, I got an email from Parts Express saying that the Gamma 15cx's were discontinued? Is this really the case? Is there any hope of getting my hands on some before they are snatched up everywhere? Thanks for any help. Parts express told me the list price was quite reasonable. DOug Eisemann

Hi there,

I hope not. I just ordered a pair from the UK Distributor. If they are discontinued I'll have to cancel, as these where distinctly for a Project to publish....

Ciao Thorsten

I believe PE dropped them...., posted on May 2, 2000 at 06:24:22

...due to lack of sales most likely. The Gamma series is still current in the Eminence lineup. You may have to contact Eminence directly to get a straight answer, and find out who distributes that unit.

I did a search on google.com for "Eminence gamma," and I read an Eminence News report saying that the Delta Pro is replacing the Gamma Pro line. However, the Eminence site still has the Gammas, and it doesn't show any Delta Pros. Go figure!

Regards to all, Gariver

Thanks, everyone for the updates on Eminence coaxes. I talked to Antique Electronics Supply and they said that as far as they know, Eminence still makes the Gamma 15cx coax, at least for now. The Eminence website still lists them. I am not sure what Parts Express was saying. Thanks again, Doug E.
