Is K-horns good for classical music?

I am considering if the match of Sun 2A3 and Klipschorns is suitable for playing classical music? Does the super transperant sound of K-hors make music more HiFi or lifelike? Thanks.

Paul Klipsch voiced the Khorns with Brook 2A3 amps 52 years ago.

There is a guy on the Klipsch board from Greece that uses a Sun 2A3 with Khorns and loves it. I have La Scalas with 300B's and it is a magic combination.

www.klipsch.com check it out.

How big a room do you have? How loud do you listen? Are you into Mahler at loud levels or Haydn at moderate levels? One speaker that "works" for me with the Sun Sv-2A3 is the Triangle Antal.

I actually have quite a small listening room at 1.5'W X 16.5'L x 9'H with two conners at both long and short walls. The reason I am considering K-horns is that I read about Paul Klipsch did recommend put the speakers at the conners of the long wall. I do listen to Mahler sometimes but mostly Wagner and Verdi's opera plus some chamber and solo in rather gental sound level. I don't like Triangle as I find they are too Hi-Fi instead of musical. I am running my Sun 2A3 with AR312HO (8ohm/97db) with a great result. BTW, I am glad to find out on your this month's "place" that you are also running Sun SV-2A3. Is it much more musical than Cary's 300SE signature? Thank you for your input.

Thank you, Les. I am also offerred a pair of Altec Lancing model nineteen horns. Do you know anything about that and how does it compare with Klipsch? Thanks. Gary

Zero knowledge of the Altec's. Sorry.

I haven't done a comparison with the 300SE Signature. But, generally speaking, I prefer the sound of a 2A3 amp over a 300B amp. I heard the Sun Audio 300B push-pull monos, thought they were excellent -- but would rather have single-ended 2A3 sound. You may be surprised by the Triangle Antal. Might be worth a second listen. Triangle speakers need a great deal of time to break in.

Thank you, Sam. I bought a pair of Cary 300SE Signatures after read your artical. However, I was not happy with them as they were short at mid range glory and very lean at bottom until I had the Sun SV-2A3...finally I understood what the real single ended sound was. For the speakers, I would choose (try) horns over others. Really enjoy reading your "places", as matter of fact they usually are the only articals I read from some S-phile issues.
