It's been a while since I saw this in the theater. But it struck me at the time they weren't even real speakers and looked like a prop. I don't even think there were any drivers in the top horns.

Visually, maybe, but music is almost always dubbed in during post-production. Even if real they were probably never even plugged in, let alone used.
