the late DJK (Dennis J. Kleitsch) reasoned the Klipsch La Scala's upper horn enclosure's volume of approximately 2 cubic feet could be added to the bass bin's rear chamber, vented, then boosted per 6th ordered assisted bass reflex to extend useful bass to a lower frequwency. An equalizer like the old Electro-Voice Interface box would be suitable.

In some cases (especially with power amplifier above the "flea watt" level) this type of hybrid may be a good compromise. What do you think of the subjective and objective tradeoffs vs leaving a horn with stock (or even reduced back chamber for certain drivers)?

If no active highpass filter is used then things will unload below the vented tuning. (more a problem with unfiltered turntable setups than "digital")

A stock Belle with 58 liter back chamber vented would have to be tuned in the mid 60's for a punchy result. Here's that case vs an equivalent sized "planar" (per MMJ at diyaudio)horn
