777 loose screw thread?

Hi folks -

I had occasion to look closely at the transport section of the 777 last night and noticed that wierd screw that was the subject of an earlier thread. I felt it and it wobbled a little under touch. Not really reassuring.

Checked the archive this morning and couldn't find the thread. A search for "loose screw" turned up a lot of monickers (just kidding!) but nothing else. Did a hand recount of the entire available archive and couldn't find it. (The section of the archive "before 9/11" gave a "cannot post to an archived" message when I tried to access it, by the way.)

Can anyone help? Thanks - Pat

It's a spring, not a screw -- DON'T TOUCH IT!

When I saw the earlier posts, I checked my 777, and it appears that what looks like threads is actually a spring with a screw through the spring. I don't know the exact purpose of it, but it appears to be some kind of adjustment screw.

When I pressed on the top of the screw it moved downward, but sprung back up to it's original position.
