nataraj sez: "I'd think the number of sacd only players sold would be about One or two thousand." By "sacd only" I assume you mean "SACD"...since all SACD players are also "CD players"...and heck, some of 'em (DVP-9000) are now also DVD players! ;-) As to your number...according to my sources, your number is very low indeed, and quite incorrect. Alas...I do not have precise sales figures at hand, as these are apparently still considered proprietary and confidential. If I had to guess, based on broad hints given by my sources, I would say that the number of SACD players worldwide is closer to 10,000 than 1,000, and climbing noticeably. I expect the 333 and 9000 (especially!) to further accelerate the climb; as a matter of fact, I have the feeling that the 9000 is going to be a *very* successful product, and will probably help many to crossover to SACD and get a superior DVD video playback system, as well. Heck, I know *I'm* going to buy one! ;-) Comparisons to sales figures for DVD are not relevant, IMO. Most DVD players are older machines and are restricted for video zones, digital output, and are further *not* capable of DVD-A playback. Most DVD players are *video* delivery devices; even their CD PCM playback requires the use of a monitor to toggle between Dolby Surround/DD to PCM output. Clearly, *video* and *DD surround sound* is the main raison d'etre of this device, which make casual comparisons to SACD sales figures tricky and misleading, at best. If you want to compare DVD sales figures with something, try VHS VCRs or...to be daring!...S-VHS decks. That's more to the point, I think. david
