do these formats require a 5.1 analogue input on my surround sound processor? i have a proceed avp, which i like, and which is software upgradable. will i have to wait until there is a digital output for these formats to use my avp. assuming of cource that the avp could accept them with its present digital interface and its internal processor is capable.

i'm thinking of the sony dvp-s9000es but won't go that route if it won't give me sacd multichannel as i already have sacd in my 2-channel room.

thanks

6 channel SACD requires 6 channel analogue input, not 5.1 channel. I am not sure about your Proceed but I know quite a lot of 5.1 processor AD the analogue input which does not make sense for SACD!

I think the only 6 channel SACD player will be Philips SACD 1000. Sony's 9000ES does not have 6 channel.

thanks QK,

sort of eliminates any probable advantage with high-res. what i will need is an analogue passthru not just an analogue input. i guess i will just wait a little longer to see how things work out. my trusty sony dvp-s7000 still looks and sounds pretty good.

all this multi-channel talk was getting me back in my theatre room. but for now if its multichannel for me it will have to be dolby digital.

thanks again,

mikel
