Ohm meter measurement reveals that Samsung/Android compatible inline mic cable connects audio wire to mic wire. It may sound ridiculous, but measure yourself if you have a multi-meter.

I felt audible difference with my Bose QC 15 connected to the headphone output of Mackie Onyx Blackjack USB Recording Interface.

[1] Bose cable without mic
[2] Bose cable with mic for Apple device
[3] Bose cable with mic for Samsung/Android

Compared to [1] and [2], [3] sounds a little more tinny, grainy, and edgy.
