using unfamiliar gear and music I would normally NOT listen to?

At a trade show? At a booth that's in a freaking TENT yet?

OK, I won't.

But I will say there is a very good chance that I will soon be replacing my Sennheiser HD-600 after 10+ years of happy ownership.

And that based on a 3 minute audition, the new FOCAL Elear sounds pretty good.

Well, you can. But I would think that we should probably take whatever you have to say with a grain of salt at this point in time. But I wish you luck with your new purchase. And please let us know what you think after some extended listening.

I would agree that the new Elears look good, seem well built, and have garnered some extremely interesting reviews.

warning based on bad experience. Just remember that reviews are based on the writers knowledge of how their components sound, and they don't always tell what didn't work/sound good. Generally speaking, it's wise to look at their listed components, to see what equipment they didn't listen with.

So far my favorite headphones. They have astonishing tonal colors. If the Elear is more comfortable with a better soundstage and better voice seperation it could really be something amazing.

If you get them let us know what you think!

The Elear which is currently under review on my site is outstanding and a game changer in its price category.
