I am currently building a headphone amp dedicated to 600 ohm phones. I have a pair of AKG 240s (600 ohm). I would like some suggestions on other 600 ohm phones.

The Beyer Dynamic DT880 (600 ohm version) are a classic choice.

Senn HD800s are high impedance - 300 ohms (not 600) and sound terrific on the Bottlehead Crack OTL amp.

If you can afford to spend around $1000 new or roughly 2/3 of that for a good used pair, the original T-1 (v 1) would be the top notch choice. The newer model T-1 (v 2) will cost you a bit more, of course.

Beyerdynamic DT-880, DT-990 are the more affordable 600 ohm options in the Beyer lineup.

Thanx for the input guys.

Some years ago I was at the Montreal HiFi show and found myself in the headphone room (Head-fi I think). I ended up totally enamored with the T1s and bogarted them until I was told to give someone else a chance. I moved on to the 880s and liked them, but not nearly as much as the T1s. The T1s were better than the Sennheisers as well. I had completely forgotten about that event until this discussion SOOOOOOOOOOO...........

Thanks for reminding me. That they are 600ohms is icing on the cake.

2nd generation. Easy on the head, throw a good soundstage and not hard to drive. Fast articulated bass that goes as deep as the recording has the lower frequencies, fine mids and smooth even highs. It is all there. And you can change out cables with ease.

iBasso DX300MAX Ti. Focal Utopia and Stellia. iBasso SR2. Mr. Speakers, Ether II, Voce stats. Manley, Absolute headphone amp. LTA MZ3, Z10e electrostatic amp. Many other headphones, amps, cables etc.

I'm too stupid.

Didn't see headphones in your photo gallery.

Maybe you could post it in the Optional Link URL space below.

Go for Beyer Dynamic DT 880 you can't be wrong. But however, beware of the cord that is not detachable.

FWIW, I'm looking to sell my lightly used DT880 600 ohm - in good condition since I don't listen critically to headphone music (or much music at all) these days - with an infant in the house. Contact me at my username @ yahoo.com if interested

Great choice but needs a decent amp driving it.

Thanks
